What do I need to know when traveling to another state?
Traveling with your pet can be a lot of work but by asking yourself these questions and considering these helpful tips – we can help to make your trip go smoothly.
Are you traveling by airline?
If so, check with your airline to see if they require any specific paperwork like a health certificate.
Then, you have to determine if your pet is a small enough size to allow for travel with you in the cabin of the plane. This is the preferred method of airline travel with your pet if possible as you can make sure they are in a pressurized location that is temperature controlled and you can check on them yourself.
If your pet is too big for travel with you in the cabin of the plane – it may be worthwhile to contact a pet mover who has experience with transporting pets.
Where are you traveling to and what are the requirements of your destination location for vaccine requirements or other regulations?
Some destinations like Australia/New Zealand require months of advanced planning and testing prior to travel. Please do your homework so you are not caught unaware and have to change your trip plans!
